Church reveals quit plan

13 April 2012

Teenage singing star Charlotte Church says she plans to retire and start a family.

The 17-year-old said she will quit the music business to have children in the not-too-distant future. And the multi-millionaire singer wants to spend the rest of her life 'chilling' with her family and her dogs.

'I don't want to be around for too long - I intend to retire and enjoy life,' she told Oxford Student magazine.

'All I really want is a huge family and to spend the rest of my life chilling with loads of Pomeranians.'

The Welsh star did not mention her boyfriend, DJ and would-be model Steven
Johnson. Johnson has caused a rift between Church and her mother Maria, who does
not think the 19-year-old is a suitable boyfriend.

In a recent interview he said he planned to marry Church in a few years. Since releasing her debut album, Voice Of An Angel, aged 12, Church has amassed an estimated £16 million fortune.

She has performed for some of the world's most famous people, including the Pope and the Queen, but her day-to-day life with Johnson in Cardiff is far from glamorous.

Asked to describe a typical non-working day, Church said she spent her time 'lazing around and watching some daytime TV', eating takeaways and shopping in Asda.
