Clash at bank as chief quits

MARK Brown, global head of equity research at ABN Amro in London, unexpectedly left the Dutch bank on Friday after what insiders described as a 'clash of personalities'.

His departure is expected to result in a reorganisation in the bank's equity division.

Deutsche Bank fired almost 50 of its worst-performing staff in Europe last week in its latest round of cost-cutting. The lay-offs are believed to affect every level of the German bank's equity division, including managing directors.
