Doing time at the 26-hour theatre show

12 April 2012

Actors are to push themselves and the audience to the limit with a 26-hour non-stop performance.

In Cellblock!, at the Light Industrial Theatre in Southwark, 20 actors and six musicians will go without sleep for an improvised piece set in a prison.

Co-producer Rob Grundel, of drop2, said: "Actors get a 15-minute break every two hours to use the loo and eat, but other than that will all have to be on stage throughout, as they won't know when the director will call for their character to appear."

Saturday's performance is split into two-hour segments, with the first starting at 7pm. Spectators can pay £5 for one segment or £10 for a 26-hour pass and drop in and out.

It is part of this month's Nursery Festival at the venue at Arch 61, Ewer Street.
