Enterprise Inns poised for Footsie

13 April 2012

ENTERPRISE Inns is likely to become the only pub firm in the FTSE-100 when the index has its quarterly review this week.

The company was founded by former accountant Ted Tuppen in 1991. On its float in 1995, it was worth £50m, but on Friday's close it was valued at £2.1bn.

The company most likely to move the other way is Foreign & Colonial Trust, which on Friday was the market's 115th-biggest company

Barring a rally in its shares on Monday or Tuesday, it is likely to fall into the FTSE-250. Share price fluctuations can change the picture ahead of Wednesday's review, but one company guaranteed its place in the index is miner Antofagasta.
