Every memory I have of Joanna is a fond one, says friend in fresh plea

"Inseparable": Rebecca Scott with Joanna Yeates, whose body was discovered on Christmas Day

The best friend of murder victim Joanna Yeates today issued a plea for information.

Rebecca Scott was the last person known to have spoken to Miss Yeates on the phone as she walked home in Bristol after drinks with work colleagues on December 17, the night she disappeared.

Miss Scott, 25, said they were "inseparable" after meeting at college in Winchester more than 10 years ago.

The PhD student said: "We are now all desperate to see justice done, so if anyone has information I urge you to call the police. Every memory I have of her is a fond one."

It came as experts were believed to be taking a DNA profile from a sample of saliva, which may have been left by the killer as he dumped the 25-year-old landscape architect's body at a roadside last month.

It was feared a DNA profile would be impossible to obtain because of the snow covering her body when she was found on Christmas Day. But samples taken from her skin using cotton wool buds may have enough DNA to get a result.

Miss Yeates shared her Clifton flat with boyfriend Greg Reardon, 27. Miss Scott added: "She was so happy with Greg. They were perfect for each other."
