First six bars apply to open all day

Six bars in London have applied to open for 24 hours.

They are among the first in the country to seek permission for late drinking ahead of legislation coming into force in November. The bars - all in Westminster - are:

  • The Zoo Bar, Bear Street, off Leicester Square: cocktails bar with club music and student discounts.
  • Babble, Berkeley Square: a popular nightclub hang out for the rich in Mayfair.
  • SophistiCats, Marylebone Lane: strip club which charges ?20 entry and the same for a nude dance.
  • The Boardwalk, Greek Street: three floors including restaurant and cocktails.
  • The Warwick, Warwick Street: over-21s nightclub serving bar food, cocktails and champagne.
Wax,

A decision on the applications is expected by May. Pubs, bars, off-licences and clubs have been able to apply for 24-hour opening since February.
