Fraudster must pay back £61,000 she stole from bosses

12 April 2012

An accounts manager at a London advertising firm was ordered to pay back money she stole from her bosses or face a double sentence.

Marcia Lawrence, 38, switched £120,000 into her private bank account while in her £40,000-a-year job at Posterscope UK in London, using it to pay off her mortgage and buy a BMW. She was jailed for 18 months in November at Southwark crown court after admitting a charge of fraud.

Investigators trying to claw back the money found £61,195 in realisable assets, which a judge has now ordered Lawrence to pay back to her former employers.

If she fails to do so within six months, the single mother from Catford could face another 18 months behind bars.
