Gloom to give way to holiday sun

Showers and thunderstorms cast a gloom over London today but the rest of the bank holiday weekend is expected to be warm and sunny.

The Met Office says temperatures are set to soar to 23C in London and the South-East by Sunday with clear blue skies tomorrow and Sunday but rain returning late on Monday.

Motoring organisations warn of traffic problems on the M11 between junction 6, the interchange with the M25, and J7 where major resurfacing work continues; on the M4 between J5 at Langley and J7 at Slough; the M20 in Kent, and the M2 between Gillingham and Rochester.
