Grid bosses' bonuses slashed

13 April 2012

TWO power cuts lasting just 79 minutes have caused even more painful cuts for four National Grid bosses - £166,000 off their bonuses.

Chief executive Roger Urwin is £63,500 worse off. Finance director Steve Lucas and distribution director Steve Holliday each take a cut of £37,500, transmission director Nick Winser £27,500.

The first blackout hit 400,000 households and caused rail and Tube chaos. The second hit 200,000 West Midlands customers.

The four bosses still collect hefty sums. Urwin's reduced bonus is £395,000, plus salary of £635,000 and £21,000 perks, making a total of £1.05m, up 11%. His pension pot is £7.35m.

Lucas got £611,000 including £217,000 bonus. Holliday got £633,000 including £240,000 bonus. Winser got £602,000 with £172,000 bonus.
