Hamiltons fluff cash for answers

12 April 2012

TV viewers will see Christine Hamilton sobbing as she and husband Neil struggle to get cash for questions in an edition of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

The pair bungled an £8,000 question as they recorded the celebrity edition of the quiz show to be screened on Boxing Day.

It meant the pair walked off with just £1,000 for their chosen charity, The Children's Wish Foundation.

They had earlier been stumped by the £200 question and had to ask the audience when they were quizzed on a UB40 hit.

The couple were asked which of the band's hits was a number one in 1983 and the Hamiltons were unable to identify the correct answer Red Red Wine from the other choices Black Black Coffee, Pink Pink Gin and Orange Orange Squash.

A spokeswoman for programme maker Celador said: "Any celebrity who is brave enough to put themselves in the spotlight for charity in this way deserves a pat on the back. They were really good sports."

Other guests on the Millionaire celebrity special include Jimmy and Liza Tarbuck.

Earlier this year the Hamiltons were questioned by police over sex allegations but no charges were brought.

Viewers of BBC2's When Louis Met The Hamiltons earlier this month saw the agony of their ordeal as interviewer Louis Theroux accompanied them when the story broke.
