Harry wins place at Sandhurst

Prince Harry has achieved his dream of joining the Army after passing his Sandhurst entrance exams, it was announced today.

The 20-year-old will enlist for officer training at the prestigious Royal Military Academy early next year - expected to be in January.

Third in line to the throne Harry sat a four-day Regular Commissions Board (RCB) assessment which finished this morning, facing an assault course, physical tests, a planning exercise and interviews to gain his place at the famous college.

Harry said he was delighted with the result in a statement released by Clarence House.

"I am delighted that I have passed my RCB and that I can now go to Sandhurst," he said.

"The last four days have been very challenging, both mentally and physically, but it's also been an enjoyable experience," he said.

"I have set my sights on joining the Army and I am really looking forward to going to Sandhurst next year."

No details as to which regiment Harry might join in the future were announced.There have been reports that the Welsh Guards could be the most likely.
