Hedge trimming prunes crime rate

Car crime and burglary have dropped in several London streets after residents cut back overgrown hedges and trees.

This left would-be burglars with nowhere to hide and provided local people with "natural surveillance", police said.

Police in Fortis Green in Haringey said car crime had fallen by 28 per cent thanks to the pruning and improved street lighting.
