Hunt for racist attacker

the man was captured on CCTV

Police are today investigating a racially motivated attack on an Iraqi woman in London.

The 25-year-old was hit in the face with a tool box, kicked in the back and legs and spat at. The woman, who was wearing religious dress with a hijab (veil), tried to seek help in a nearby shop but the attacker pursued her and continued the assault.

Several people tried to stop the man before police arrived. He escaped, leaving his tool box.

During the attack, at 2pm in Kilburn High Road on November 5, the man tried to pull off the victim's hijab. He was caught on CCTV next to the entrance of the shop, Poundland.

Dc Terry Limby of Camden Community Safety Unit said: "Every effort will be made to catch the suspect."
