'I'll give £2,000 to charity in return for a job'

A graphics worker who was made redundant in the recession is offering to give £2,000 to charity in return for a new job.

Graham Edwards, 43, has spent five months searching for work, applying for 30 jobs and going to 12 interviews. But despite having 25 years' experience he has not been able to secure a position.

In an attempt to make his CV stand out, he has now promised to donate £1,000 to charity when he is offered a job, and another £1,000 when he completes his probation period. Mr Edwards, from Kew, said: "This is a desperate cry for help for someone to give me a chance. I will give the money to a charity of my new employer's choice. It costs me £2,000 a month to live, so I figured I have nothing to lose. I need to do something to make my CV stand out as the marketplace is swamped."

Mr Edwards lost his job as a senior creative artworker at a firm of architects in Kensington in September when three major building projects he was working on were shelved. He said: "The firm I worked for went from 250 staff to 60. At the job centre I was told to apply for work at Westfield shopping centre."

Mr Edwards, who has two sons aged 19 and 21, can be contacted by email at gra.ed@virgin.net
