Hollywood's favourite shoemaker Jimmy Choo is launching a budget range at high street chain H&M.

For the first time ever the company, known for its women's accessories, will produce clothing and men's shoes as well.

Normally its shoes sell for more than £300, but the special credit collaboration with H&M will be more affordable.

It is likely to sell out within hours with shoppers queuing round the block and fighting over items in an echo of frenzied scenes in April when catwalk designer Matthew Williamson brought out a range in the store.

H&M has also worked with Roberto Cavalli, Victor & Rolf, Madonna, Stella McCartney and Comme des Garçons in the past.

The Jimmy Choo collection will be the first time H&M has sold designer accessories.

It will be available in 200 stores worldwide including the main London shops. Product details and prices will be available nearer the time.

Tamara Mellon, founder and president of Jimmy Choo, said: "We are privileged to be among the fashion greats who have been affiliated with H&M so far, and to be designing a collection appealing to fashion savvy, street smart women, and to be including some great pieces for men, too.

"Jimmy Choo will bring to H&M a sophisticated, fashion forward, accessible and glamorous collection - the perfect party pieces to buy now and then wear out that night!"

Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M, said: "Jimmy Choo's shoes and bags are glamorous and sexy, and they add instant style to the simplest of outfits.

"It's a joy to be able to offer top end designer shoes and bags of excellent quality to our customers."

Since its launch in 1996, Jimmy Choo shoes have become a red-carpet essential, worn at the Oscars by winners such as Cate Blanchett, Halle Berry and Hilary Swank.

Michelle Obama, wife of the US president, wore Jimmy Choo shoes on her husband's Inauguration Day.
