Among the cases expected to be highlighted are:

  • Gurpal Virdi, a Sikh officer dismissed after being falsely accused of writing racist hate mail. He was sacked in March 2000 - but won his challenge to this at an employment tribunal. He was reinstated with compensation of about ?240,000 after a four-year ordeal.
  • Brian Paddick, removed as borough commander of Lambeth after claims by a former gay lover he had smoked cannabis. After a four-month inquiry no evidence was found against him. He was given a more senior role in Scotland Yard after the investigation, is now Deputy Assistant Commissioner and is tipped to become Britain's first openly gay chief constable.
