Man denies Wimbledon bomb threat

13 April 2012

A 41-year-old man denied today making a false bomb threat at the women's singles final at Wimbledon.

Jerry Trafford, of Church Road, Paignton, Devon, is accused of leading telephone operator Sharon Morgan to believe a bomb was present at Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday July 5, 2003 - the day of the women's final between Venus and Serena Williams.

Trafford pleaded not guilty to communicating false information with intent at Bristol Crown Court today.

He was granted unconditional bail and the case was adjourned for trial on a date to be set.
