Nokia release new colour screen phone

The world's largest mobile phone maker Nokia is expected to launch a new colour screen model offering high-speed data connections and enhanced messaging services.

Nokia officials said the company would be making a web launch of a product today, but declined comment on its specifications.

Specialist Swedish Internet site Telekom Online said the model, the 6610, would be a triple-band phone equipped to work on general packet radio service (GPRS) networks, the enhanced form of the current GSM standard that allows Internet information to be sent to handsets at high speeds.The phone would also use multimedia messaging services (MMS), a step up from regular text messages which will allow users to send pictures and sound and video clips. The 6610 will also use Internet-friendly Java software and have an FM radio, the Telekom Online report said.
