An 8ft-tall picture of a near-naked woman chained to a rock has made the shortlist of Britain's top portrait painting prize.

Holly, by Manchester artist Louis Smith, 41, is in the final four of the £25,000 BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery.

Smith said it cast Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods, as a woman. The winner will be announced on June 14.
