Police free children in nursery siege

Police in Malaysia today stormed a kindergarten and subdued a man who took 30 children and teachers hostage for nearly seven hours.

Officers said all the captives were now safe. The raider, armed with a machete and a hammer, reportedly told negotiators to give him a gun or he would kill the children.

It is believed he was injured after police fired tear gas and entered the school in the town of Muar.
