Police track leopard believed to have eaten three children

Police in India are tracking a leopard which is believed to have eaten three children in a week.

The same cat is thought to have killed a boy of ten near the village of Chatergul in Kashmir last month.

Leopards are a protected species, with those convicted of killing them facing up to six years in jail.

But wildlife officials have given permission to hunt this one, offering a £120 reward. after declaring: "It has turned into a maneater".

Attacks on humans are more common in winter when snow forces leopards down from their mountain home in search of food.
