'Safe haven' café opens in memory of murdered boy

12 April 2012

The parents of murdered schoolboy Jimmy Mizen are to open a café in London for vulnerable teenagers in an attempt to stop further killings.

The Café of Good Hope in Hither Green, a mile from where the 16-year-old died and next to the offices of the Jimmy Mizen Foundation, will aim to act as a "safe haven" for young people who feel distressed or in danger.

Barry Mizen, 58, said: "Young people can come in if they feel distressed or need help. The doors can be locked and parents or police can be called. People don't want violence on their streets. This is something we have worked towards since Jimmy died."
