Season's greetings from British artists

Festive: Grayson Perry’s family celebration at McDonald’s
12 April 2012

Christmas cards made by or featuring British artists including Lucian Freud and Grayson Perry go on show at Tate Britain today.

All come from the gallery's archive and include works sent to its director, Sir Nicholas Serota.

Perry's card shows himself and his family "celebrating" Christmas in McDonald's and others include designs by modernists such as Ben Nicholson and Peter Lanyon.

Freud appears on a card sent by Cedric Morris, who established the East Anglia School of Art, where Freud studied. The artist is shown drawing with students in a garage in 1939 after the school had burned down. The display marks the 40th anniversary of the Tate archive and runs until 1 February.
