Sixth man in court on terror charge

A man will appear in court today charged with a terror offence following raids in Birmingham. Basiru Gassama, 29, from Birmingham, will attend the City of Westminster Magistrates Court in London.

He is charged, under the Terrorism Act 2000, with withholding information about a potential act of terrorism.

He will be the sixth man to appear in court following last week's raids. The other five men appeared in court yesterday charged with offences under anti-terrorism laws.

Eight suspects were picked up in a series of dawn raids on Wednesday last week over an alleged plot to behead a Muslim soldier.

A ninth suspect was stopped on a motorway in the city several hours later.
