Soap star too good for Enders

'Too good': Hannah Waterman
13 April 2012

Minder star Dennis Waterman says his actress daughter is too good to appear in EastEnders. The actor, who made his name in 1970s police series The Sweeney, said 27-year-old Hannah would learn nothing from being in the BBC1 soap, where some of the acting was 'diabolical'.

He told Radio Times: 'If you were in a soap, that was the end of your career. Now, people want to be in a soap because it will enhance their career. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying my daughter's too good to be in EastEnders, 'cos I still think of soap as soap.

She's not going to learn a great deal doing EastEnders, is she? Some of the acting is diabolical and some of it is very good.' Hannah has played Laura Beale in the programme since February 2000.
