Storms chaos... but spring's here

Torrential rain and gale-force winds caused train and Tube delays today - just as scientists claimed that spring is upon us.

On the Tube, fallen trees and debris closed parts of the Northern, Metropolitan, Piccadilly and Hammersmith & City lines and caused mainline delays.

But despite the weather, conservationists have reported signs of an early spring - and say that climate change may mean winter could disappear for good.
