Sunday People put up for sale

12 April 2012

THE Sunday People newspaper has been put up for sale with a price tag of £50m, it has been reported.

People owner Trinity Mirror has contacted potential buyers with a memo that indicates the group wants more than £50m for the business, according to the Sunday Telegraph. The memo says Trinity wishes to retain the rights to print and distribute the paper.

The group is reportedly concerned that the People, with a circulation of around 1.3 million, is a direct competitor to the Sunday Mirror, which it also owns.

The Sunday Telegraph said Express Newspapers owner Richard Desmond was thought to be among potential buyers, but that the conditions attached to the sale were a sticking point.
