Surfer killed by sharks

Evening Standard13 April 2012

Two great white sharks have killed a teenager off a suburban beach in Adelaide. Surfer Nick Petersondied almost instantly when one of the sharks grabbed him by the arm and pulled him under the water.

It then tore him in half, while the other took his remains, witnesses said.

Sea rescue squadron spokesman Frasier Bell said one of the sharks was about 15 feet. The 18-year-old was being towed by a boat containing three 16-year-old friends.

There have been 10 fatal shark attacks in South Australia since 1975.
