The father of two shot dead as he tried to flee

Police have issued a picture of a young father shot dead on a busy main road in south London.

Father-of-two Davion Watt, 26, collapsed and died after being shot in the back at lunchtime on Friday.

Mr Watt, of Catford, had been visiting a flat in Coldharbour Lane in Camberwell, near the junction with Denmark Hill, shortly before the attack.

Detectives believe he was shot as he ran into the street, where he collapsed. Two suspects were spotted running from the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead soon after.

A post-mortem gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the back.

A murder hunt has been launched by the Met's Operation Trident, which tackles gun crime in London's black community. There have been no arrests.

Detective Chief Inspector Adnan Qureshi, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are asking anyone who saw two black men run from the scene towards the Crawford Road area of Camberwell to call the incident room as a matter of urgency.

"The area was extremely busy at that time and there would have been a number of witnesses who saw them.

"His murder has left two young children without their father and his family are devastated. Anyone with information can call the incident room and be sure that it will be treated sensitively and in confidence."
