Theatre plan to bring joy to care homes

1 October 2012

A Londoner has set up a project to make the city’s care homes a hub for music, cinema and the arts.

Chris Gage saw his grandmother struggle with dementia in a care home more than a decade ago — and how she responded when he took his interactive theatre group into the home for a day of music and drama. Mr Gage said: “It was fantastic to see my grandmother in fits of hysterical laughter and with that glint back in her eye.”

His project was the winner of September’s Ideas for London scheme, a collaboration between the Evening Standard and the Artangel group.

The deadline for November and December’s Ideas for London is October 15. aroomforlondon.co.uk.
