Thieves steal Bentley’s wheels for second time in a month

Going nowhere fast: the Bentley on bricks

A £150,000 Bentley is the latest expensive car to have its wheels stolen in London.

Unfortunately for the owner of the Continental model, it is the second time thieves have targeted his black sapphire vehicle in three weeks.

The 200mph car — which does 11.2mpg about town —was parked outside a house in Chelsea when two of its wheels were stolen on Wednesday night. A set of new rims can cost as much as £5,000.

Neighbours said there had been a spate of similar crimes in the area, but they had never heard of the same car being targeted twice.

It is thought that the owner is out of the country on business and may not even know about the theft. The car, which has a personalised numberplate, was still propped up on its hubs with a car battery left under the bodywork by
the thieves after they chocked up the vehicle and stole the driver's side wheels.

But as was the case when the thieves first struck the kerb meant they were unable to steal the two remaining wheels.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "I can't believe this has happened to the same man again, but this area has become notorious for this. I see cars missing wheels on an almost weekly basis.

"Last week, a Mercedes had all four of its wheels stolen. The people doing this are definitely professionals."
