Time for England cricket fans to go Walkabout

12 April 2012

For the die-hard cricket lover who wants the full big-screen experience the best place in London to watch the Ashes is the Australian-themed Walkabout bar in Shepherd's Bush.

It is staying open through the night, until 9am, for every night of the First Test.

Other London Walkabout bars may follow suit for the later Tests. In central London the best bet is the Sports Café in Haymarket, which will be showing cricket until 3am.

If you prefer to cheer on Andrew Strauss and his men from your own home, the match is being shown ball-by-ball on Sky Sports 1.

Alternatively you can tune into BBC's Five Live Sports Extra for radio commentary. It's going to be a long night, so what are the best tips for staying awake? Lots of coffee, obviously. But also a short burst of exercise every hour or so and a five-minute walk outside in the cold air during the duller spells.

High energy foods such as bananas are recommended but resist the temptation to graze on junk food — it will make you feel more sleepy.
