WorldCom fraud case is transferred

THE fraud inquiry into WorldCom has been moved from the telco's home state of Mississippi to New York. Dun Lampton, the US attorney in Jackson, was taken off the case over possible conflicts of interest. Other members of his team will continue to work on the case and will report to the US attorney's office in New York.

The move is similar to the case against Enron, transferred to New York by federal prosecutors in Houston.
