From their platform Crocs to that Ikea dupe, Balenciaga have hit both our headlines and our purse strings in equal measure this year.

Revealed today to be the current hottest fashion brand in the world, the inimitable Demna Gvasalia has officially knocked runway royalty Gucci off the coveted top spot.

New data compiled by fashion search engine Lyst and the Business of Fashion revealed the official global rankings for the highest performing fashion brands and individual products in the year's third financial quarter.

Rising from 3rd in the last quarter, Balenciaga have pushed Gucci down into 2nd place closely followed by one of 2017's biggest success stories in fashion, Off-White, who rode from 34th to 3rd.

Vetements, Givenchy and Valentino hold onto their 4th, 5th and 6th spots respectively, before Saint Laurent snapped up 7th - a leap from their 24th place ranking in Q3.

Stone Island also leapt up the table moving from 41st to 8th - thanks, in part no doubt, to its biggest fans Drake and Liam Gallagher - with Moncler and Raf Simons coming in at 9th and 10th.

Naturally, some of the year's biggest brands had to drop off the list in order to make way for the list's five new entries Off-White, Saint Laurent, Stone Island, Moncler and Raf Simons.

One of the biggest drops was Kanye West's Yeezy, who fell off the list entirely having placed at number 2 in Q2.

Y-3, Prada, Nike and Fendi were also absent from Q3 having placed 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th respectively in the last financial quarter.

Tracking 4.5 million data points per hour from over 65 million annual consumers, 4 million products and 12,000 brands, the formula allowed fashion houses to be analysed via search data, engagement statistics, conversion rates and sales.
