While you may be (mistakenly) under the impression that Royal Ascot is about horse racing, all eyes - or at least those of the fashion-conscious - are in fact on the style choices, with outrageous outfits and extravagant hats almost synonymous with Ladies' Day in particular.

Marking the third day of the world-famous annual meet, ladies travelled for miles to attend the well-known event, clutching their luminous bags and struggling to see beneath their enormous choice of headwear.

From a My Little Pony inspired headpiece to a heavily-feathered green number - with matching lipstick, naturally - the women attending Ladies' Day have an unspoken friendly rivalry as to who can sport the boldest look.
