Phillips has this week opened a “selling exhibition” displaying a selection of top-tier independent watches paired with bespoke tailoring and menswear.

‘Well Suited’ sees 25 of the world’s most important watches - from brands including Philippe Dufour, Vianney Halter, Richard Mille, Romain Gauthier, Ludovic Ballouard, F.P. Journe, Grand Seiko, Rolex and Patek Philippe – go on sale in an exhibition alongside a selection of bespoke tailoring from Thom Sweeney, a London tailoring firm founded by Luke Sweeney and Thom Whiddett.

The watches have been personally selected by James Marks, International Specialist and Director on the Phillips watches team, with input from Whiddett and Sweeney, who are both themselves collectors.

“Thom and I have collected watches for many years and have always felt that the mark of a man was excellent manners, a great suit and a beautiful watch,” says Luke Sweeney, Thom Sweeney co-founder.

A selection of Thom Sweeney bespoke tailoring has been handmade specifically for the exhibition, which features a functioning cutting room where visitors can be fitted and order bespoke suiting.

A sale highlight is the Philippe Dufour Simplicity, 37mm, rose gold with white lacquered dial, which is one of a few of its kind ever to have been available for purchase in the UK.

“We are delighted to be partnering with an innovate and forward-thinking UK brand such as Thom Sweeney, as we continue to offer unique collector experiences year round in London,” said James Marks, Phillips’ International Specialist and Director, Watches. “Well Suited showcases one of the finest selections of independent brands to be offered in London in recent memory, and will be led by the Philippe Dufour Simplicity, which is a highlight for any watch specialist or lover of horology to bring to market.”

The exhibition, according to Sweeney, “brings two forward thinking brands together through a shared appreciation of craft and design.”

For watch collectors and dapper dressers, this one’s worth checking out.

The Well Suited exhibition runs from 15 – 21 March at Phillips, 30 Berkeley Square, London W1J 6EX
