No one delights his customers quite like Giorgio Armani. At least that was the message at Paris couture week as the designer unveiled his latest high-end Armani Privé line at a show packed to the rafters with high-paying clients who had travelled from China, Russia and the Middle East.
The clothes on offer, though incredibly expensive, certainly had everything any loyal Armani woman could ever wish for. From flowing silk pyjama pants, through exquisitely-cut tailoring, to dreamy princess gowns crafted from lace and trimmed with feathers, the collection was a check list of Armani staples in luxed-up form.
Of course, few would expect anything less than pin-sharp focus from the veteran designer. The brain behind Italy's most successful fashion business with a personal worth of more than $8.5 billion, he is something of a master when it comes to getting those all important euros in the till.
But what will Armani's wealthiest women be wearing next winter? Simple: nude and lots of it. Taking flesh and nakedness as his inspiration, the designer went heavy on the shade. A womanly sort of elegance was also key to this collection.
Flowing silhouettes used draped silk while a hint of grown-up glamour was injected through oversized cocktail earrings and fur trimmed chokers.
For evening, Armani was also bang on the money. But this time he had his eye on the Hollywood red-carpet. Delicate lace layered gowns came detailed with tiny flashes of balled silk while the show's stand-out piece was a sugar pink marabou overcoat which had Armani's faithful followers cheering from the front row.
