She is known for her unusual fashion shows, but Stella McCartney's latest venture is one for the books.

The designer showed off her Spring 2012 collection at a country-style garden party yesterday, in the setting of New York City's East Village.

Anne Hathaway, Jim Carrey, Amy Poehler and Solange Knowles attended the event.

Hathaway, who cut her hair short for her upcoming role in Les Misérables, attended with her fiancé Adam Shulman and wore a simple white suit with black Ray Bans, while actress Amy Poehler was more daring in a bright orange dress.

The star-studded event had country fair games, a traditional lemonade stand, croquet, a brass band and food served on a little ferris wheel.

The collection, which was displayed by models who mingled with the guests, featured bell bottoms and jackets in candy shades such as pale pink and yellow, while animal print playsuits and shorts added a bit of an edge.

Houndstooth suits and jackets were also in the collection, adding a more sophisticated element to the designers new Resort Line.

McCartney is famous for her innovative shows. Earlier this year she used a flash mob dance show to present her evening wear collection.
