Vogue’s first festival gets off to a flying start.
Emma McCarthy20 April 2012

Vogue’s first ever festival kicked off at the Royal Geographical Society this morning. Preceding Dolce and Gabbana designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana who are scheduled to chew the fat (or perhaps a stick of asparagus) with Vogue Editor Alexandra Shulman this afternoon, was Burberry designer Christopher Bailey. “It’s an honour to open the first ever Vogue Festival with Christopher” said Shulman as she took to the stage. Speaking of the remarkable transformation that has seen Burberry evolve from an outerwear company into billion pound brand - “the ultimate brand resuscitation” said Shulman- the editor said “whoever thought a raincoat could come this far”. Bailey paid credit to the team he has built during his tenure at Burberry and said he believed that it was his staff’s “energy” which helped to make the label such a phenomenal success.
