Sarah Burton's debut Fashion Week show for McQ, Alexander McQueen's spin-off brand, was hailed as "sensational" by her new biggest fan, Salma Hayek.
The Hollywood star gave the royal wedding dress designer a ringing endorsement after watching the show last night. Hayek said Burton, had created clothes that "we can all wear".
The actress added: "The show was truly sensational - really, really amazing. Sarah Burton set the bar really high - it makes me nervous it is so good. It was so mind-blowingly extraordinary - every single piece - and very wearable."
The show was McQ's first on a London Fashion Week catwalk and the label will open its first major London store in April.
Highlights included astonishing sculpted gowns which had been detailed with silk petals and intricate embroidery. One was trimmed with a fan of black net while another featured layers and layers of tulle in rainbow-inspired shades.
This morning all eyes were on Mary Kantrantzou, as the Greek designer, who is considered one of British fashion's brightest stars, unveiled her collection. Kantrantzou, who scooped the BFC's Fashion Forward Award last month, did not disappoint with her latest offering which was among the most polished and refined seen at fashion week thus far.
The collection promised to transform the everyday into something unique and beautiful and it did so. Calling on everything from an old typewriter to a packet of Crayola crayons, the designer created mesmerising prints which appeared on dresses, flowing capes and peplum-trimmed jumpsuits.
While Kantrantzou's designs are best known for their striking yet playful printing techniques, she has lifted them up a step with this offering.
