Jennifer Aniston's age-defying physique is the subject of media fascination, and the 49-year-old Hollywood actress has helpfully just revealed her go-to exercise routine.

Aniston spoke candidly to her screenwriter pal Molly McNearey – also Jimmy Kimmel's wife – for Instyle's September cover interview. They discussed everything from the biggest misconceptions about her in the media, that she "can’t keep a man," and the fact that she's actually "not heartbroken" following her split with Justin Theroux, to her favourite margarita recipe and love of sculpting.

Fortunately for us, she also disclosed how she keeps in such good shape, and it's just another reason to get into the ring this summer.

"Last year I discovered boxing, and I love it," she said. "I have this trainer named Leyon, who I believe hung the moon. It’s the longest workout I’ve actually stayed with consistently other than yoga. There’s something about the mental aspect of boxing — the drills, your brain has to work, you’re not just sitting on a bike. It’s amazing.

"Boxing is a great way to get aggression out," she went on. "You get a mental release of all this crap you’re taking into your ears and eyes every day and have little fantasy moments imagining who you’re actually punching. I’m just grateful it’s not actually the person, even though there’s one person. You know what I mean. It’s all good."

Combat sports were among some of the biggest fitness trends for 2018. Many celebrities credit boxing with getting them lean, including virtually all of the Victoria's Secret models, and given some studios claim you can burn up to around 600 calories in an hour's session, it's no wonder.

So if you haven't already, it might be time to enter the ring, or at least sign up for a class.
