Apple is rumoured to be planning a new ‘budget’ iPhone for release in 2018.

The tech company is thought to be working on an update to the iPhone SE, originally released in March 2016.

The SE, standing for ‘Special Edition’, marked a smaller and cheaper option in Apple’s range of smartphones, and it’s thought the updated version will stick to a similar design with a 4” screen, priced around £350.

The launch comes after Apple released its most expensive iPhone ever, the iPhone X.

The new handset marks the tenth anniversary of the company’s groundbreaking gadget, with plenty of new features.

The front of the iPhone X has been redesigned, removing the home button to extend the screen across the full face of the device.

Replacing the fingerprint scanner in the home button is a new security system, Face ID. The front-facing camera includes a 3D facial-scanner so that users can unlock the phone with their own face.

The camera is also Infra Red, so Face ID can work in the dark.

The new iPhone SE is expected to retain the traditional iPhone design, with a home button and fingerprint scanner.

With the original iPhone SE launched in March, it’s thought that the new SE will arrive in the first months of 2018.
