Cat owners are more likely to cheat than dog owners, study suggests

We all know that dogs are one of the most loyal creatures on the planet, but according to a new study, canine owners may be just as devoted as their four-legged companions.

IllicitEncounters.com, a dating website for married people, has found that of all the different types of pet owners looking to start an affair, those who have a dog are the least likely to cheat.

Just over 10 per cent of the members the website surveyed owned dogs, making them the most faithful pet-owning married partners - just like their loyal pups.

Single daters, however, should be wary of cat owners, who made up 25 per cent of their database - making them the most promiscuous of all pet owners.

Fish owners also ranked highly in the list of cheaters, with 16 per cent admitting to owning one.

‘There has already been a plethora of scientific studies that claim that owning a dog, or dogs, makes you happier and healthier, and now you can add loyalty to that list,’ commented site spokesperson Christian Grant.

‘A cat’s loyalty is a little more unclear. Often lazy, they’ve been known to drift to whomever is offering them more food, so it’s of little surprise to see that lack of loyalty reflected in our study.’
