Annie Lennox's daughter has survived a kayaking accident in New York's Hudson river, but her boyfriend is still missing after their boat capsized on Saturday morning.

Model-turned-artist Tali Fruchtmann and her long-term partner, photographer Ian Jones, fell into the river near the town of Sattsburg after getting into difficulty.

According to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, Tali, who also goes by the name Tali Lennox, was rescued by a passing boat but her 32-year-old boyfriend disappeared under the water, and remains unaccounted for.

Dutchess County Sheriff’s Capt. John Watterson said the search was suspended at around 5.30pm yesterday due to treacherous water conditions, but was resumed today.

The couple, who live in New York City, were reportedly not wearing life jackets at the time of the accident.

A police spokesman said: “The rescue operation has been hampered by difficult river conditions but they guys are doing everything they can to locate the missing man.

“The Hudson can have incredible undercurrents which makes it hard for even the strongest of swimmers.

“Time is of the essence and although time is ticking on, no one has given up hope."

A spokesman for the Eurythmics singer said earlier today that he had just heard about the accident and was trying to get more information.
