A recent remake of The Lone Ranger, featuring Johnny Depp as Tonto, has been voted 'worst rip-off' at an awards ceremony which commemorates terrible films.

The 2013 Disney film, which was panned by critics and was labelled a box office flop, was honoured at The Golden Rasperry Awards on Hollywood Boulevard last night.

Depp, 50, starred opposite Armie Hammer in the movie produced by Gore Verbinski and Jerry Buckheimer, famed for their work on the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Also mocked for their on-screen performances were Will Smith and his 15-year-old son Jaden for sci-fi film After Earth.

Jaden was given the award for worst actor whilst his dad, 45, won the supporting title.

They were also awarded the prize for worst screen combo.

Razzies founder John Wilson told the BBC: "It's an old Hollywood traditional that somebody who is a star tries to make members of their family a star, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't."

But toast of the night was Movie 43, which won best picture, worst screenplay and worst director.

The film stars a host of Hollywood royalty, including Halle Berry, Richard Gere and Kate Winslet.
