Sir Michael Caine devastated after death of his brother

13 March 2013

Sir Michael Caine has been left devastated by the death of his brother, it emerged today.

The actor starred with his younger sibling Stanley Micklewhite in films such as The Italian Job, Billion Dollar Brain and Play Dirty.

He died in January but the family, from Ruislip, kept it quiet to avoid media attention.

Mr Micklewhite’s widow Marie said: “Michael couldn’t even come to the funeral because we knew there would be a media circus around it.

“But Michael is grieving his brother. They were very close.”

The pair grew up together in Southwark before evacuating with their family to the Norfolk area during the war.

Having worked together in show business Caine and his brother were regulars at the nightspots of Chelsea’s Kings Road throughout the 1960s.
