Sky News presenter Jacquie Beltrao diagnosed with breast cancer on Christmas Eve

Sky News presenter Jacquie Beltrao has revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The mother-of-three, who provides sports bulletins for Sky, took to Twitter to tell her more than 30,000 followers of the diagnosis - which was made a day before Christmas.

The long-serving presenter, a former British rhythmic gymnastics champion, wrote: "Been neglecting my twitter had a bit of a wobbly time of it - diagnosed with Breast Cancer on Xmas Eve - all positive thoughts welcome !!

"Thanks everyone for your amazing tweets - made me feel all emotional - not good when you're about to do eyeliner ! Xx"

Celebrity friends and colleagues have tweeted their support for Beltrao, who represented Great Britain at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984.

Fellow Sky stalwart Kay Burley encouraged her followers to offer messages of support to Beltrao.

She wrote: "Just been chatting with @SkyJacquie who has tweeted that on Xmas Eve she was diagnosed with wretched breast cancer. Pls send her your love."

Sky colleague Eamonn Holmes wrote: "U r my lovely friend and I will be there for you as you get through this. Stay strong, and know you are loved by so many. X"

Fellow presenter Gabby Logan said: "Jacquie you are an amazing woman and have incredible drive and guts you are not going anywhere. Loads of love xxx"
