An army sergeant who has been accused of sexually abusing female recruits today denied the charges against him ahead of his trial.

Edwin Mee, 45, is said to have carried out the attacks between October 2010 and September 2011 while working as a recruitment sergeant.

The Scottish soldier allegedly targeted 11 victims aged between 15 and 25 on military bases.

Today at Southwark Crown Court, he denied 17 counts of sexual assault, three rapes and one count of assault by penetration.

Mee, of Tavistock Road, Croydon, is due to stand trial tomorrow after a jury is sworn in at 10am.
