A 36-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after two lone women were stabbed in east London.

The victims, aged in their 50s and 60s, were left needing hospital treatment following the attacks in Bow that took place two days apart.

Scotland Yard said Ivor Collingwood-Williams, of Garrison Road, Bow, will appear at Thames Magistrates' Court charged with two counts of GBH with intent and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

In the first attack, a woman in her 60s was stabbed in Chariot Close on Friday. Police said at the time she was on her way home after buying fish and chips.

She was taken to hospital for treatment, although her injuries were not life-threatening.

In the second, a 57-year-old woman suffered a number of stab wounds when she was set upon on Sunday night.
