A bus inspector was punched and kicked in a shocking attack after asking a passenger for his ticket.

Police said a colleague of the 29-year-old ticket inspector had to intervene to stop the attack on board a route 173 bus in Islington.

Detectives today released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with the incident in Essex Road at about 5pm on Thursday, September 17.

A spokesman for the Met said: “The suspect is described as a light skinned black man, aged about 17 to 25 years of age. He was wearing a grey cap, with long afro hair tied in a ponytail.”
